
A reminder that the Mesick Lions Club Halloween Carnival is tonight from 6-8 pm in the elementary gymnasium. Adult and child costumes are encouraged, prizes will be given. Bounce house, treat walk, games, etc. PTO will be selling concessions including hot dogs and drinks.

Third graders have been studying the skeletal system. Today we made an x-ray of the bones in our hands. They look awesome in our windows!





Mesick Elementary annual Halloween parade through town is on October 31st. The parade will begin at 1:30 pm with Kindergarten and younger children, followed by first through fifth graders.

5th graders are making some beautiful fall art, today. Thank you Mr. Jim Kern for coming back and helping us make our leaf projects!!





First Grade just had their first shopping trip to the Bulldog Buck store! They are working hard on showing their core values and earning them all day long throughout the school. PBIS is helping our students by rewarding outstanding behavior. Way to go Bulldogs!


Today First Grade had our 2nd annual Tea Party to celebrate the end of our Fairy Tale unit in reading. We discussed manners and practiced table etiquette while eating some tasty snacks. Check out these well dressed Firsties!





If you haven't heard by now... Our 2019 Varsity Football team are the Champions of the West Michigan D League! It seems like just yesterday the season started, but here we are in the last week of the regular season. Make sure to get out tonight to catch our Junior High football team as they take on Baldwin at 6pm. Tomorrow night we have our JV Football team at Suttons Bay and our Varsity Volleyball team at Frankfort. Friday night the Varsity Football team will be hosting Suttons Bay. Both teams are currently ranked in the Top 15 in the state for 8 man football so make sure to get out and catch the regular season finale! If you see a Cross Country runner, make sure to wish them good luck as their regional is Saturday at Benzie Central. Have a great week everyone!

The Mesick Adolescent Wellness Center, located at Mesick JR/SR High School, will be offering a flu clinic for students on Thursday, November 14, 2019. Please call 876-3805 to schedule an appointment. There is NO out of pocket cost for any students. The Wellness Center will bill insurance if you have it but there will be no co-pays. If you do not have insurance, the wellness center can still provide the flu shot free of charge. Please call ahead to schedule an appointment.

Mesick 4th grade students had another successful trip to the YMCA. Go Bulldogs!





Happy Monday! The Bulldogs are back at it after the weekend. 4th grade science lesson. Students are forming a hypothesis and tracking their data.



Mesick JR/SR High just conducted a successful fire drill.

A group of JR High student went to the Heavy Equipment program at CTC Friday as a part of the Career Prep Academy. They will spend several Fridays exploring career paths at the Career Tech Center in Cadillac.




Just a reminder that parent teacher conferences are tonight from 5-8 pm and Wednesday from 1:30-4:30 and 5:30 to 8:00. No appointments are necessary in the JR/SR High. Parents of elementary students should make an appointment.

Third grade students have been reading and learning about the famous artist Pablo Picasso. Check out their Picasso Halloween Projects!



As the week comes to an end, we want to recognize some Mesick Student-Athletes. Congratulations to Grant Fleis as he made 1st Team All-Conference in the WMD this year. Grant also recently took first place at the Mesick Invitational. The Mesick boys team finished 4th overall in the conference. Our Varsity Volleyball team finished 3rd place overall in the conference while the JV Volleyball team finished 2nd. Also, many of you are already aware that our Varsity Football team is playing tonight for sole possession of the conference championship. Kickoff is at 7pm in Brethren vs Bear Lake. Also a reminder: Junior High Boys Basketball practice will begin Thursday at 5:30 pm at the elementary school. This will be for 6th, 7th, and 8th grade boys. There will also be an optional open gym session from 10 am to Noon every Sunday with Coach Hall in the High School gym. We hope to see you at the game tonight and have a great weekend!

Today, the 5th grade traveled to the Platte River Fish Hatchery to learn more about the salmon and their life cycle. The Platte River Hatchery is the main egg-take location for coho in the Upper Great Lakes.



Today the 3rd grade class participated in the Red Cross Pillowcase Project. Students were taught what to do in emergency situations then given a pillowcase to be filled with emergency supplies. Lastly, students were able to color the pillowcase to make it their own. Thanks to the Red Cross for visiting our school.





It was cold and wet, but homecoming ended with the boys football team bringing home a big win. Meanwhile, the combined Mesick Junior and Senior High Bands performed at the game. Congratulations to the Homecoming King and Queen - Joseph Stewart and Elizabeth Hamilton!





Due to the heavy rain in the forecast for 5:00 pm, we will be cancelling the homecoming parade scheduled for today. The heaviest part of today's storm is scheduled to hit at 5:00 pm and last for about one hour. We are making the announcement early so the kids are able to catch their bus ride home. The kids have put their school spirit on full display today and it truly has been special to see! Make sure to come out to show your support for our boys tonight as they attempt to make history against Brethren at 7:00 pm!
