One of the #1 ways to help prevent illness is good hand hygiene. Wash your hands often and for at least 20 seconds scrubbing vigorously. Don't touch your face and be sure to drink lots of water. Most illness that are viral, need to run its course, but if you have a high fever or persistent symptoms you should see your healthcare provider.
