
The February Student of the Month trait is Diligence. We want our students to be diligent in all they do. Thanks to Mrs. Rogers for creating a visual reminder for students on the meaning of this important character trait.




Mesick Athletics started the week of strong with big wins from the JH Girls Basketball teams on Monday. The 7th grade team won in double overtime while the 8th graders won 26-10. The Varsity Girls team also got a big win last night in Bear Lake by a score of 37-23. Tonight, the boys JV/V Varsity teams will be hosting the Buckley Bears at 6 pm! Tomorrow the JV/V Girls will travel to MCC for a 6 pm start and the JH girls play at Buckley at 4:30 pm. The week will conclude with a boys JV/V home game vs Bear Lake at 6 pm. During half time of the JV game on Friday, our elementary boys in 3rd/4th grade will be playing at half time, while the 5th grade boys will play at half time of the varsity game. We hope to see everyone out supporting our Mesick Student-Athletes this week!

Tonight's girls JV/V basketball game at Bear Lake will be played! The bus time is 4:45 and will leave from the high school. Good Luck girls!!! Also, JH girls basketball practice is cancelled for today. Tomorrow night the boys JV/V Basketball team will be home vs Buckley. We hope to see everyone at the games!

Northern Michigan Grad; Josten's will be here at 2:45 PM that day to deliver graduation announcements and other senior products that were ordered this past fall.

MS Students at Crooked Tree!

It was a great day at Crooked Tree Arts Center annual Youth Arts Show yesterday, February 2. Mesick Jr/Sr High was given 4 awards! 1, $100 cash award to Tiffany Macy, 2 $500 scholarships to Mckensey Kendall and Kaylea Rogers and 1 honorary award to Noah Kendall from Kendall College of Art and Design! Artwork from 42 schools will be on display today through March 14. Check crookedtree.org for hours. Go Bulldogs!

Congratulations to all of our high school band students who participated in the MSBOA District 1 Solo and Ensemble festival. We had a GREAT showing again this year - with all of the events medalling! We had 8 First Division ratings (all now eligible for State's) and 1 Second Division ratings! Great Job Band!

1st Graders created their own headdresses similar to the ones Emperor Moctezuma wore while he was in control of the Aztec Empire. They were made of gold and tropical bird feathers. The students did a great job in their colorful creations

Today in science, 2nd graders explored the insulating and conducting properties of different materials. Students worked together to test different materials and determine which ones would make the best oven mitts or mittens, protecting their hands from heat or cold.

6th and 7th grade JH Girls Basketball practice for tonight is cancelled. There will be an 8th grade game in Walkerville as planned at 530 pm! Also the boys varsity team will have a 7pm tip off at Big Rapids Crossroads. Good Luck to all of our Student-Athletes tonight!

Annual K-12 Crooked Tree Arts Center Exhibit showcasing Mesick student artwork along with 42 other schools will be open to the public February 2 - March 14 (see website for gallery hours: crookedtree.org).
An opening reception for awards will be held February 2 from 1-3pm. Judges will be announcing honorable mention for Middle School and cash prizes for High School.

Make sure to come out tonight and support the Junior High girls basketball teams as they host Mason County Eastern at 5:30 pm! Wednesday the Boys Varsity team will travel to Big Rapids Crossroads for 7pm start. There will be no JV Contest for this game. Also, on Wednesday there will be a JH game at Walkerville at 5:30 pm. Thursday the Girls JV/V teams will will travel to Brethren for a 6pm start and Friday night the boys will follow suit and travel to Brethren for a 6pm start. We have had a JH Girls basketball scheduling change and the girls will now travel to Marion on Saturday morning for a 9 am start. Also on Saturday the boys elementary basketball program will kick off at 9 am at the high school. Sign up/registration will be at the door and there is no cost. We hope to see everyone at the game!
