The Elementary Jump-A-Thon fundraiser is underway! Our students have a week left to collect donations. The event will take place on May 10, 2019. How does my child collect donations? DO ask parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, neighbors, friends and coworkers and employers if they would like to support your child’s school. DO NOT go door to door or ask strangers for donations. It is not safe and is not encouraged by Mesick Elementary. What are my options for donating? 1. Provide your child a flat donation (cash or check) 2. Ask family and friends to support your child’s effort in the Jump-a-thon. Do I collect donations now? YES! All donations are due on or before May 9, 2019, by 2:00 pm. Please collect and enclose all cash and checks in the attached envelope and return to your child’s teacher. PLEASE MAKE CHECKS PAYABLE TO MESICK ELEMENTARY! Please write child’s name and teacher in memo portion of check.

We have been receiving several questions regarding secure phase and what that means. Basically, it is a 'soft' lock down. The students start in a lock down which allows us to know where everyone is located. Then the day resumes as normal, no students/staff are outside of the building and we have tighter control of exit/entry. All of the doors are locked everyday this safety practice continues through the secure phase.

Dear Parents, As many of you know the schools were placed into secure phase this morning. We had an unknown vehicle on school property. All of the students were safe during our secure phase. After contacting law enforcement with no threat found, secure phase was lifted. I know hearing of a secure phase can be a concern, but we will always err on the side of caution. I am very thankful for Mr. Fowler and his experience.

Attention: Tomorrow's bus for the JV softball tournament in Cadillac will be leaving the HS at 10:30 am. Also, congratulations to the Mesick boys varsity track team for running strong today at the Marion Invitational and placing second! They will be bringing home a plaque to add to the trophy case! The girls track team was also in action and turned in some very impressive performances. They finished 4th overall and had multiple girls place in the top 6 in their events! JV softball also turned in a solid performance tonight as they split a pair with Cadillac. Well done girls!

What is the reason for an Jump-a-thon? We understand budgets are tighter, so rather than the traditional catalog fundraiser that requires us to split the profits in the fundraiser company’s favor, Mesick Elementary has replaced their fundraising with a Jump-a-Thon. This will allow parents and business community to donate directly to Mesick Elementary, so we can provide the services and programs that enrich our elementary students’ school experience. New prize incentives will be available for your child to earn. It’s also a great opportunity to educate our Bulldogs about physical fitness, while supporting a good cause for their school community.
