It was a busy weekend for Mesick Athletics. Saturday morning, Grant Fleis qualified for States in Cross Country for the second straight year. Grant set a PR with a time of 17:28 and placed 5th in the Division 4 Regional. He will be racing Saturday at 1:30 pm at MIS in Brookyln, MI. Also on Saturday, the Varsity Football team made history when they defeated Vestaburg 34-0. This was the first playoff win in school history! The boys will be playing at Gaylord Intermediate School on Friday at 7pm vs Gaylord St. Mary. Our girls volleyball team opens district play on Wednesday at 5:30 pm vs McBain NMC in Buckley. If the girls win Wednesday, they will be playing in the district championship on Friday at 6 pm. Spectators for the volleyball games will be limited to 4 spectators per player. There will be no general admission for this event unfortunately. With both football and volleyball playing Friday night, we want to make sure that we can support both teams. We will be posting a link to the live stream of the football game on Wednesday and hoping to have a live link to the volleyball games as well. Thank you too everyone supporting our student-athletes and we will keep you updated as the week progresses! Go Bulldogs!

Exciting news! Ski club is going to continue this year, but with some changes. Caberfae is no longer doing night skiing on Tuesdays, so we will be skiing on Thursdays. Money collection will stay the same as last year with the jr/sr high on Monday and elementary on Tuesday. Face coverings are required for lessons, lift lines and in the lodge.
Ski Club sign up will be November 18, 2020 in the high school commons from 5:00-6:30pm. Sign-up fee of $1 on November 18. The fee increases to $5 after that. Caberfae will be there to measure height, shoe size and weight so you are ready to ski in January.
Covid could cancel ski club at any time.

A reminder that this is a three day weekend for students! There is no school on Monday, November 2. This is a professional development day for staff. We hope you all enjoy the extra day off.

Due to the current COVID restrictions the elementary will unfortunately be canceling the Daddy Daughter dance that was scheduled for November 6th. If restrictions change this school year, we will definitely do our best to reschedule this fun event.

Elementary picture retakes are Tuesday, November 3rd. If you want your child to get retakes, please send in the original package received.

Today in science the 4th grade class learned about potential energy and energy transfer. They had a fun time doing it as well!

My favorite thing about teaching 1st grade is guiding the process of learning to read. Helping students form a positive lifelong relationship with reading and having fun makes all of our hearts happy. You may not see the smiles this year, but you sure can feel them! -Mrs. MacEachern
