Tonight's junior high girls basketball game has been cancelled. It is procedure in our conference that Junior High events are cancelled when school does not take place. Stay safe and Go Bulldogs!
Mesick Schools will be closed today, Monday 7 Feb. We have early reports of freezing drizzle and our transportation coordinator has been out early this morning on the roads in our community. The roads are extremely slippery and unsafe for our buses and students/staff who travel to school in private cars.
First graders have been working hard on counting by tens and ones. They may have thought Mrs. MacEachern lost her mind when she dumped out all the unifix cubes this morning but they had so much fun building and counting by tens and ones. We have 1,730 cubes in our classroom!

Elementary - 📗Books for Kids📘
Today students had the opportunity to pick out 2 books each to add to their home libraries. Happy Reading!

More high flyers and kids working hard with Coach Fitzpatrick for fitness February.

Congratulations to our girls varsity basketball team who defeated MCC last night to inch closer to the number one spot in the conference with a 11-2 record. Tonight the boys play Brethren at home with JV starting at 6pm. The boys are undefeated and ranked as a honorable mention team in Division 3. We hope to see you at the game tonight and a reminder that 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade boys basketball players and their families will be allowed to attend tonight's game for free. Have a great weekend and Go Bulldogs!
GR K-3: 📚Mesick Elementary Tutoring📚
We are getting ready to begin our 3 session of tutoring.
If your child is being recommended for Reading tutoring, permission slips went home yesterday. Check folders & Backpacks!
Congratulations to the boys varsity basketball team who received 4 votes in the Associated Press Division 3 Rankings this week. It is believed this is the first time since the 1982 Final Four team that a Mesick boys basketball team has received votes in the AP Poll. Also, congratulations to our girls basketball team who notched win number 10 last night vs Bear Lake! Two reschedule dates to keep in mind: Boys JV/V basketball rescheduled for Monday 2/7 @ Manistee Catholic at 6pm. Girls varsity basketball rescheduled for Wednesday 2/16 at home vs Crossroads at 6pm. Have a great day and Go Bulldogs!
Coach Fitz has his class working hard today. These kindergartners make it look easy!

Attention Moms....A reminder that tomorrow is our Muffins for Moms event from 7:30-8:00 a.m. Doors will open at 7:30 a.m. sharp. When attending the event, please do not park directly in front of the school off M-115. This is our drop off area and we need to keep it clear for students being dropped off. That area is marked by a yellow curb. Also, after the event, please do not walk your child down to their classroom. See you tomorrow!
Congratulations to the boys and girls varsity teams who both brought home victories last week. Thursday night the girls avenged an early season loss to second place Brethren and squeaked out a 37-36 victory to move to 9-2 and take over second place in the conference. Friday the boys beat Pentwater 78-24 to move to 9-0 on the season and maintain the top spot in the conference. The girls are home Tuesday and Thursday this week vs Bear Lake and first place Manistee Catholic Central. The boys are home Wednesday vs Big Rapids Crossroads (no jv game, 6pm varsity start) and Friday vs Brethren. Our Junior High girls are also home tonight vs Walkerville at 5:30 pm and Wednesday vs Marion at 5:30 pm. It's been a very exciting start for the boys and girls varsity teams this year and we hope to see you at the games this week! Stay safe and Go Bulldogs!
A huge thank you to the freshman parents who have signed up to help with concessions! We still have a few dates open that need to be filled - Monday 1/31, Monday 2/7, and Saturday 2/19 (we need several time slots filled). If you have a few hours to help, it would be greatly appreciated! Send me an email gilletten@mesick.org
Today's Junior High Girls Basketball practice will be cancelled. The game scheduled for Monday, January 31st will still take place at home vs Walkerville at 530 pm.
A little late, but here are our November student of the month recipients. The November trait was self-control.

Due to a high number of anticipated staff absences because of medical and personal reasons, and an inadequate number of available substitute teachers, Mesick Schools will be closed tomorrow, Friday, Jan. 28. Even with teachers who would be present agreeing to cover classes during their preparation periods, we still would have a number of classes (especially in the Jr./Sr. HS) that would not be covered.
Because we are not closing due to student sickness, extra-curricular activities will occur as planned on Friday and Saturday.
Thank you for your understanding.
Joe Hollenbeck, Superintendent

Mesick Elementary students have been working hard and earning many Bulldog Bucks! We had a bike raffle today and here are the lucky winners.

Monday's junior high girl's basketball game vs MCC has been cancelled due to illness. Unfortunately due to official shortages, we will not be able to reschedule this contest. The team will resume practice Tuesday and travel to Mason County Eastern on Wednesday.
Junior High students in Mrs. Gillette’s class created their own pop-up books, then came down to the elementary to read them to our kids. They did a great job, and the elementary kids were very excited to see them.

Congratulations to our girls varsity basketball team who defeated Buckley last night! The girls have won 5 straight games and are now 8-2. This marks the best start for the girls basketball program in over 11 years. Great job girls! Our boys varsity team is also off to a hot start at 6-0. The boys travel to Baldwin tonight to take on the Panthers. If you are planning on attending tonight's boys jv/v basketball games, please know that Baldwin is requiring masks for all spectators, coaches, and players. We would also like to recognize our newly added Power Lifting program coached by Jonathan Hallett. This past Sunday, Senior Deven Pawlowski and 7th grader Gunnar Hallett qualified for the state meet in February! Congratulations to all of our Winter Student-Athletes. Stay safe and Go Bulldogs!
