Kindergarten Camp was a huge success! Students and parents were welcomed into the building, got a tour and a great introduction to the school routines, expectations and procedures. It was a fun start to their school careers. We made our own T-shirts, played outside, and learned to share our toys. Welcome Class of 2036!! 😊

Hello my name is Stephanie Brown and I’m the SEEDS Site Coordinator for the Mesick SEEDS Ecology and Education Center. We provide after school programming at Floyd Jewett Elementary. It has been my vision to restart the community garden since I started with SEEDS four years ago. With the help of three amazing women, Elizabeth Walker, Stephanie MacEachern, and our own Sarah Shelp, along with Mesick School students and administration we have made it happen! Thanks to a few grants that were written by our committee through SEEDS and Ecocorp we were able to build a raised bed garden in the courtyard of the Elementary School. This has been an ongoing project between SEEDS and the Mesick Consolidated School District for a year now. Our vision is teaching the students about healthy eating and sharing gardening tips and healthy vegetables with the community. We've had multiple student volunteers as well as SEEDS staff members (Dalcie Thomsen, Victoria Makonnen) help out with filling the garden with dirt, planting seeds, and pulling weeds. A huge thank you to our SEEDS staff for watering and weeding the garden in our down time. We would like to invite the community to come and help harvest this beautiful garden for our local church Food Pantries or anyone who may be interested in harvesting fresh produce. Come see our garden during the school open house August 23 5-7 PM. If you have questions about our garden project, please contact me at Stephanie@ecoseeds.org.
