May 16, 2021

Good Evening Mesick,

I wanted to touch base with you regarding the new CDC guidance that fully vaccinated people will no longer need to wear masks indoors or outdoors.  This was followed by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS)  using this same guidance for the State of Michigan.  For many of us, this has been very encouraging news.

This past Saturday, May 15, the CDC recommended schools continue to use the current COVID-19 prevention strategies for the 2020-2021 school year, which includes masks for all students and staff.  This is also the recommendation from our local health department.  Mesick Schools’ staff and students will still be required to wear masks for the remainder of the school year.

The CDC will be updating its guidance for schools in the coming weeks.  This updated guidance will inform schools for the planning of the 2021-2022 school year.  This is encouraging as we may not be required to wear masks for the next school year.

Also, I have been working with the health department to plan a vaccine clinic at the school for parents, students, and staff.  It is my hope to have more information for you regarding the vaccination clinic soon.

I know it has been a challenging year for all of us.  Everyone has done very well working together and getting through this school year.  We just need to stay strong for a few more weeks.  We can do it!

Please stay safe and healthy.

Blessed to be a Bulldog,
