Mesick Consolidated Schools has launched a dedicated website to provide community members with information about the district’s proposed August 4, 2026 bond referendum.
The website, available at https://bit.ly/mcs-bond26, is designed to help residents better understand the proposal and its estimated impact. Visit the website to:
Review project scope and facility information
Learn more about the planning and community input process
View conceptual renderings and project details

Submit questions and stay updated throughout the process
“The website was created to give residents a central place to learn more about the proposal, review information, and stay informed throughout the process,” shared Superintendent Jack Ledford. “We encourage community members to explore the information, attend an upcoming open house, and ask questions.”
BACKGROUND
On August 4, 2026, voters will consider a bond proposal focused on renovating the 1966 portion of Floyd M. Jewett Elementary School, removing unused building areas, and addressing key facility and site needs.
The proposal reflects community input gathered through surveys, public meetings, and the work of a local advisory task force.
The proposal focuses on right-sized spaces, safe and functional learning environments, and a local investment in maintaining school facilities.
So why do school districts ask voters to consider bond proposals for facility improvements? In Michigan, there is no dedicated state funding for school building upgrades. School facilities are owned and maintained locally, while state funding is primarily used for classroom instruction, staff, and daily operations.
