Dear Parents and Students,
As we continue down a new path with Executive Order 2020-35 the district has been working toward our distance learning plan. We will be working on a blended learning plan. Teachers will be reaching out to families to find out if you would like an electronic learning opportunity or a paper packet. If a student does not have electronic capabilities, hard copies will be provided to students using a Mesick Consolidated Schools pickup location or supported with a home delivery system, this will begin on Monday, April 20. Please make sure you are responding to emails, phone calls and other communication systems that teachers have in place.
The work that the teachers prepare will be meaningful and for a three-week period. (This will help limit potential exposure to our families and community.) Teachers will be reaching out weekly to families and posting office hours when they can be reached to assist students’ learning, monitor and assess the learning. As we continue on with this plan, there may be changes as we are learning what is working and what is not working. We appreciate your support and patience. We are appreciative of the work and effort that will be placed on you, please know we are here to support you.
In addition to our distance learning plan, elementary and junior high students will be promoted to the next grade level unless determined that doing so is not in the best interest of your child. Again, we are here to support you through this time. Your child’s teacher and/or building administrator will be in contact with you if retention should be a considered option. You may also contact us if you think retention should be considered. Students will receive a credit or no-credit for the second semester.
High school students will receive credit or no-credit depending on their standing at the end of the third quarter. If students were on the border of receiving credit or no-credit, they will be given the opportunity to pull their grades up in order to receive credit.
Seniors, if the student was in good standing as of Wednesday, March 11 the student will receive their diploma. Those who were not in good standing on March 11 will be offered opportunities to receive credit for the second semester. We have not made any final decisions regarding the graduation ceremony for the class of 2020, It is our hope that we will be able to proceed with a ceremony.
