Bulldog

March 24, 2020

Hello Mesick.

I hope you are all doing well.  I sure do miss seeing all of you, especially the kids. I wanted to reach out to you and share some information that I know and some that we still do not have answers to.

Governor Whitmer issued Executive Order 20-21 (Stay at Home Order), this order has further delayed schools reopening until 11:59 PM  on April 13. Therefore, Mesick Consolidated Schools will be closed through Monday, April 13 and reopening on Tuesday, April 14. Please continue to check our Facebook Page (Mesick Consolidated Schools),  website (www.mesick.org) as our teachers have been posting activities for your child(ren) to work on at home.   This information is also available to you on our App (Mesick Schools), you can download our app from wherever you download your apps.

I have included a resource from the Michigan Department of Education, it has a lot of resources available to you and many of the resources are free or giving a free trial.

Some of what I don't know?

What about testing?  Michigan has received a waiver that will allow the state to cancel the M-STEP and other state exams this school year, but the state Legislature must also act to make that official.

Will these days be forgiven?  Again, this will need to be an act of legislation.  It is my understanding is that they are meeting again on Wednesday, March 24.  I am not sure if they will take action on anything.

What about seniors?

What about graduation?

With the state testing waiver, what does that mean for the SAT?

What about Senior High Prom?

What about retention and promotion?

All of the above items are legislative and we will have to wait.  We would all love to know sooner rather than later but we are in a holding a pattern.  We will relay all pertinent information to you when we receive it.

I hope everyone stays well and healthy.

Blessed to be a Bulldog,
