Hello Everyone,

I wanted to send a brief update to you regarding some exciting changes at Mesick Schools. The district applied and was granted just under $75,000 from the Michigan State Police School Safety Grant to create secure vestibules (holding areas for visitors) for both the elementary school and the jr/sr high school.   This will allow us to ‘buzz’ visitors directly into the offices rather than hallways.  This will make the buildings more secure.

Many of you have noticed that they have started some of the work on the secure vestibules.  The goal is to have the vestibules complete before January 1.  This will allow us to start the new year off with new security measures.

This process will create a learning curve for all of us.  For example, we will be moving the elementary office across the hall during the construction.  This change will also affect our process for visitors coming into the school.  Although the offices will be in the same location, the door that you will need to buzz into will change after construction.

We are very excited about this change but we do ask for your patience as we all will be learning a new process.

Sincerely,

Scott Akom
