White Bulldog

July 7, 2020

Dear Parents and Community Members,

As many of you are aware, on July 2,  Governor Whitmer’s Office released Michigan’s 2020-2021 Return to School Road Map.  This road map gives school districts the guidelines on what they need to do to return to school in the fall.  School districts are required to come up with three different plans depending on which reopening phase our region is in.   (We are currently in Phase 5.)

Below is a Brief Overview of what each plan/phase would look like.

Phase 1,2,3: (Plan 1)

School Closed to all except essential workers. Remote Learning Plans in place (Similar to COL Plans put in place in March)

Phase 4: (Plan 2)

Masks are required

Work with the Health Dept. related to protocols for screening  students and staff

Distancing is Strongly Recommended

Phase 5: (Plan 3)

Masks are strongly recommended in phase 5

Distancing is Recommended in Phase 5

The good news is that the district has already been meeting and discussing with our Re-Open Committee on what school will look like next year.  We will continue to meet and plan over the next couple of weeks with several other organizations (Area Schools, Intermediate School District, Health Department, Thrun Law Firm, etc.)

Mesick’s first day of school is scheduled for Monday, August 31 and it is our goal to continue to provide safe and quality instruction to our students.  It is our hope that we will be able to greet our students face-to-face on the 31st.  Parents, we also want you to know that we are looking into online options for students who are not ready to return to face to face instruction. We understand the fluidness of this situation both personally and medically.  We will be prepared to meet our students’ needs no matter what phase we are in.  Please be on the lookout for more information.

Blessed to be a Bulldog,
