Students have to work together and problem solve to reveal clues to unlock the box. The box can contain some type of reward that the teacher chooses.
Third grade had an absolute blast working together to open the breakout box! They had to use their newly acquired knowledge about context clues to solve the problems and eventually open their breakout box! We are super excited to complete more of these challenges!

We are seeking interest from all stakeholders regarding starting school before Labor Day. The ISD has again received a three-year waiver for all schools within the WMISD to begin before Labor Day. It appears that enough schools in the ISD will be starting before Labor Day which will open the CTC and WMISD before Labor Day. This is not stating that Mesick Schools will be starting before Labor Day nor does this mean that we will not. This is purely information gathering. Regardless of the start date on the next school year calendar, Mesick students will still be required to attend school for 180 days and have at least 1,098 clock hours as required by state law. Please complete the survey that is attached to the link below. You may have to cut and paste the link into your browser.

Several students participated in the Ferris SINE (Students in Need of Eyecare) program on November 1st. Those students that required glasses will receive them tomorrow afternoon!

Dear Parents:
As you may be aware, we are currently short bus drivers. We are currently using substitute drivers to cover routes. We are very fortunate that our custodians are licensed bus drivers and they are able to substitute when needed. Please be aware that substitute bus drivers may run late as they are unfamiliar with some of the bus routes. We will do our best to keep the same subs on the same routes. This will enable more efficient routes and familiarity with our kids.
If your child’s bus is running late, we will make every effort to contact you.
There is a state wide shortage of bus drivers. If you are interested in becoming a bus driver or substitute bus driver, please contact Bob Harris or Scott Akom at 231-885-1200 for more information.
We appreciate your understanding.

Here are 4 of the 5 “most laps” winners for the JR High walk-a-thon today. The 5th winner was so fast, I couldn’t even get a picture! They each went 13 laps which is 3.25 miles! The junior high students walked nearly 200 miles total! We are still accepting donations through Monday. All donations go toward enhancing the Junior High experience (field trips, student recognition, etc.).

Congratulations to our JV Football team who moved to 5-0 last night with a 31-18 win over Brethren! Gabe Parrish and Jon Teachout combined for 4 touchdowns on offense while Logan Weinclaw, Kane Nyman, and Andrew Terry combined for 33 tackles on defense.
Please make sure to download our app in iTunes or the Playstore. Search Mesick Consolidated Schools and it will pop right up. All Fall athletic calendars can be found there with Winter schedules appearing on Monday.
Have a fun and safe weekend!

Last night the Mesick Volleyball program hosted the Pentwater Falcons in a Junior High/JV/V showdown. The JH and JV remained undefeated in conference and both came out on top winning 2 of 3 matches. The Varsity put up a good fight but eventually fell to the 1st place Falcons. Our Varsity team is currently in 3rd place out of 10 schools in the new WMD Conference! Great job girls!
Also there are a couple scheduling updates for the Volleyball program. We will now host Glen Lake on October 17th starting at 5:30 pm but will be traveling to Buckley for a Varsity only contest on 10/22 at 6:30 pm. The game in Buckley will be a pinkout game.
Also good luck to our JV Football team tonight as they look to keep their undefeated record going and make it 5-0 at home tonight against Brethren.
Go Bulldogs!

School pictures were sent home with students today!

Each month our teachers receive the Scholastic Book Club fliers to send home for students to share with their families and purchase books if they would like. Scholastic has books every month that are $1 and teachers wanted the opportunity to be able to send home one new book each month during the school year with every student. It equaled out to $9 per student for a full school year! We want to send out a huge thank you to those that sponsored a student and donated money. Our students are excited to be receiving these books!

Tonight's volleyball match will be varsity only starting at 6pm.

We want to remind everyone that we are bringing back the homecoming parade this year! The parade will start at 5:00 PM this Friday and will run down 115 through town. We hope to see everyone out and about showing their school spirit! If you have any questions, please ask!

It was a big win for the JH football team last night vs Brethren! It was a total team effort in the shutout as multiple guys made plays on offense and defense. Our junior high volleyball team brought home a win from Mason County Eastern last night. The girls are undefeated so far this season! The JV and Varsity volleyball team will also play at MCE tonight as they look to move improve to 4-0 in conference play. Tonight's JV football game vs Marion has been cancelled as Marion needed to combine forces to ensure they have the numbers for the varsity game. The varsity game will kick off at 7pm Friday night here in Mesick. We hope to see everyone there!

Our junior high football team makes their home debut tonight. Come out and support them! Game starts at 6:00 pm

Congratulations to our Junior High Volleyball team as they moved to 3-0 last night with a win over Manistee Catholic Central. Tonight Manistee Catholic Central's JV/V teams will also be traveling to Mesick to take on our lady bulldogs. Both the JV and Varsity Mesick teams are undefeated in conference play so make sure to come support them tonight at 6:00 pm!

Don’t forget!! Tomorrow is Elementary picture day!

Last night in Mesick was a busy one! We had JV Football and the JV/V Varsity Volleyball teams all playing in Mesick. The Mesick JV Football team moved their record to 4-0 with a 48-6 victory over Grand Traverse Academy. Offensively with great up front blocking the team rushed for 256 yards collectively and 4 touchdowns. Quarterback Gabe Parrish was efficient throwing the ball as he was 7-12 passing for 2 TD's and 1 INT. The defense was sharp as well collecting 70 total tackles, intercepting 4 passes (all four by Logan Thomas), recording a safety, recovering a fumble and a quarterback sack. The JV Volleyball team had a great team effort sweeping Bear Lake by scores of 25-9 and 25-13. The Varsity team also provided a great team effort and wrapped the game up in the 4th match in thrilling fashion 28-26. Congrats to all of our student-athletes!

Yesterday we were informed that our Varsity football game scheduled for Friday at Manistee Catholic Central was going to be moved to Saturday due to a lack of officials. This morning a crew of officials stepped forward allowing us to keep the game on Friday. It was important to both sides that we keep the game on Friday night at 7pm in Manistee. There is currently a need for officials across the state of Michigan. If you or anyone you know is interested in earning extra income as a side job, becoming an official is a fun and easy way to do so. If this sounds like it may be an option, please email Coach Duby at Dubyk@mesick.org. Have a great day!

Jostens of Northern Michigan was here, at the JR/SR High, today to meet with both sophomores and seniors. Sophomores were given information for ordering class rings and Seniors were given the information for ordering graduation products and their cap and gown. All orders, for both the sophomores and seniors, will be collected on Friday, September 14 during the High School lunch period.

Congratulations to our JV and Varsity volleyball teams as they recorded the first ever Mesick win in our new conference, the West Michigan D League last Thursday. Not only did they start the new conference off with a win, but they also recorded the first victory on our new court. Congratulations girls and keep up the great work!

Elementary picture day is September 17,2018!

I would like to remind you that the Mesick Consolidated Schools takes student safety very seriously. This summer Mesick’s Board of Education approved in hiring a school safety officer. We have hired Mr. Fowler. Mr. Fowler is a licensed police officer and is a tactical medical instructor. He will be helping our kids remain safe by training students and staff and assisting with various safety needs. Mr. Fowler will also be carrying a weapon. Mesick Schools will remain a weapons free school zone with the exception of Mr. Fowler. We will be introducing Mr. Fowler to the students so that they know he is safe and here to keep them safe. He will also be at tonight’s open house if you would like to meet him.

Mesick JR/SR High
