Mesick to Become One of the Best!
Mesick Schools has set the goal to be one of the top performing districts in Northern Michigan. Our community deserves the best. Progress has been made but we still have more work to do. The last year has been trying for staff, students and the community because of the need to cut costs and the uncertain funding levels from the State. The uncertainties are not resolved yet. The Governor recently proposed a budget that recommends no further cuts in funding to schools predicated on extending the state sales tax to services. If it passes, it would be a welcome financial relief to Mesick but is not a sure thing until voted on by the Legislature.
Mesick needs to continue on a path to restructure our programs and support functions. We have to spend our resources wisely to focus maximum efforts on educating our students. The Restructuring Committee is being asked to review all of our functions to look for opportunities for improvement, to set priorities and evaluate cost effectiveness. Any thoughts and recommendations from parents, students and the public are welcomed and can be submitted through our new suggestion box on the website. With everyone working together, we can meet our goals and provide a top tier education to our students.
